Part of Era 02First of All

YBNL

Released12 November 2012LabelYBNL NationProducerPheelzTypeAlbum · 20 tracks

The first release on his own label, and the album that turned an acronym into a movement. After leaving Coded Tunes, Olamide named the project after the imprint itself — Yahoo Boy No Laptop — and spent twenty tracks proving the bet wasn't bravado.

Singles "Ilefo Illuminati," "First of All," "Stupid Love" and "Voice of the Street" did the heavy lifting: Headies and Nigeria Entertainment Awards hardware followed, and by mid-2013 the industry had stopped treating YBNL as a side project. Guests from Davido and Tiwa Savage to Reminisce sketched the alliance map that would define the next era — street-hop with a wider stage, still speaking in the city's own tongue.
